Proper dégagés
Hey everyone and welcome back to “Dance Tips with Brittany”!
Moving along at the barre… we started with pliés, tendus, and today we are moving on to dégagés. In our lesson today, we are going to work the turn-out and feel the glute.
Today’s Dance Tip is:
“Disengage to feel the Glute”
Okay, what does dégagé mean? Disengage, correct! So let’s disengage (dancing) to feel the glute; to squeeze the butt muscle. Meaning when your leg separates from first position, I want you to focus on squeezing the booty of the working leg. It is hard to maintain our turnout, let alone when our leg is off the floor.
Dégagé and hold it out until you’ve achieved your maximum turnout so the knee is facing the ceiling and not the front of the room. Then try it again.
Today’s combo is out, hold hold, 3x then 3 quick into first switching feet.
Let’s go!
Amazing! Awesome job today friends! And remember to focus on maintaining that turnout on the out position of your dégagé. Knee up to the sky!
Thanks for dancing with me today and I’ll see you next week on “Dance Tips with Brittany” Comment below with any specific dance questions you may have! Don’t forget to subscribe!
